Kitchen: Phase 1 and Photo Tips

I decided to paint the kitchen walls with Sherwin Williams in Sea Salt.  I love it!  It's light with just a whisper of color, and my blue and white plates pop against this color.

I still want to paint the cabinets white, but I'll wait until it warms up so I can sand the doors outside.

The next two photos were taken before the walls were painted.

Susan at Between Naps on the Porch has an excellent post about photo tips that have changed my life.  I'm not kidding.  I have struggled with taking indoor photos; they always turn out so dark no matter how much I play with the settings.  Susan at BNOTP has some must read, easy to understand photo tips.

Are you wondering how you're going to edit your photos once Picnik goes away?  I've been a little concerned, but I figured the big girls (the experienced bloggers) would tell us what our options are; and that's exactly what's happening.  The following links are some of the blogs I've stumbled across that have written about our photo editing options once Picnik goes away.

Love your new walls. You are a smart girl to take your kitchen reno. in phases. So much easier to handle. I'm going to Susan's right now to check out the photo tips. I need all the help I can get. I downloaded the latest version of Picasa. I think it's 3.9. They have added some of the features from Picnik and it's really easy to use. I have also used Pixlr to add titles. I'm still hoping Google changes it's mind and keeps Picnik.

Katie...I haven't checked these sites out yet, but I've been told "Be Funky" and "My coffee shop blog" both have free editing software...check it out. I'll be looking at it this week, too! andrea@townandprairie

I love your new color in the kitchen. I believe one other blogger (Sweet Chaos) used that same color in her home too. I am going to miss picnik too. That's what I use and hate to relearn something else. I will use it until I can't any more!

I love SW Sea Salt, I have a quart of it now! It really brightens up your kitchen. And yes, I'm worried about picnik, but I'm hoping something better will come along before then. :)

Loving that color. Really freshens things up. And you do want to wait till it's warmer to paint the cabinets ... especially if you use and oil-based or enamel paint. The fumes are not only strong, but should be near the pilot lights!

Thanks so much for joining our Impossibilities challenge!
