Dresser in Provence

I bought this dresser at a garage sale.  The dresser is painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Provence.  The top was stripped and stained with Minwax Dark Walnut.

I used AS Soft Wax and then distressed the dresser.

The polyurethane on the before was very thick and gloppy.

I thought about sanding the dresser before I painted it, but decided to go with the rougher rustic look.

Thanks for visiting.

another fabulous piece, katie! love the color and i love the sweet shape of that piece! the provence i used didn't come out as pretty as that- mine had a lot more green to it. i think it always comes out differently!

I absolutely love this!! I've been looking around blogland at painted pieces for 2 weeks trying to find inspiration for a highboy dresser I inherited from my grandmother. This dresser is EXACTLY the color that I think would look perfect on it!! It looks so beautiful and unique!

Beautiful choices in color and finish, I have been trying to decide what annie sloan color out of aubusson, duck egg or provence to use on old shutters to flank my windows in my living area, I have not seen alot of projects in this color but with you pictures I can see this is the perfect color to use! Love that you left the top rustic

Fabulous job! I love the color you chose and the way you kept the top natural. Chalk paint has been on my "to-do" list for ages. Thanks so much for the inspiration.
