Dresser in Aubusson & Duck Egg Blue Mix

This dresser was purchased from Craig's List and painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.  I mixed approximately two parts Aubusson Blue and one part Duck Egg Blue.  The mirror was purchased from Hobby Lobby several years ago and painted with the same mix of paint.

I usually take photos of my furniture outside where the light is better, but I thought I'd try an inside shot today.  Taking inside photos is difficult in our house (or maybe it's the photographer).  We have a lot of windows but also a lot of tall trees outside, which tends to darken the interior and/or cause glare.  Like I said, not the easiest place to take photos.

The top was stripped and stained with Minwax Dark Walnut.  AS clear wax was used as the final step.

I think I'm getting better at distressing.  I always knew the look I loved, but it was still hard to sand off what was just painted.  However, it's getting easier.

As you can see, I love all things blue and green, from painted furniture to glass and other collectibles.

Dresser in Provence

I bought this dresser at a garage sale.  The dresser is painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Provence.  The top was stripped and stained with Minwax Dark Walnut.

I used AS Soft Wax and then distressed the dresser.

The polyurethane on the before was very thick and gloppy.

I thought about sanding the dresser before I painted it, but decided to go with the rougher rustic look.

Happy Birthday Baby Kitty!

Is it time?!

Smokey and I are joining Debbie at Confessions of a Plate Addict, her staff and other kitties of blogland for a party to celebrate Baby Kitty's birthday.

Would you like some catnip tea with that salmon pâté?

Happy Birthday Baby Kitty!  We had a wonderful time at your party.

Love those legs!

This desk was purchased from Craig's List and painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Aubusson Blue, AS clear wax and distressed.

The inside of the drawer was painted in Louis Blue for contrast.

Sea Glass

Source: google.com via Donna on Pinterest

Sea glass is glass found on beaches along oceans, bays, rivers or large lakes that has been tumbled and smoothed by the waves, water and sand, creating smooth, frosted shards of glass. (Wikipedia)

To learn how our life is like sea glass read this inspiring piece from the Sanctified Pearl.

Blue and White Guest Room

Here's a look at my blue and white guest bedroom.

I found these two dressers at a thrift store.

The dressers are painted with Behr Moonrise and lightly distressed.  The pulls and knobs are painted with Rustoleum Satin Nickel.

The top drawers have a pretty carved design.

The two dressers fit perfectly in the little nooks of the guest bedroom.

My cat would agree with this pillow.
